Onion Poppy Seed Baguettes
This great recipe contributed by Miche Suboski is nice for an elegant dinner to impress your favorite relations visiting from out of town.
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup minced onions
1 teaspoon poppy seeds
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 1/2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 teaspoons yeast

1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon water
Directions:
Place 1st 8 ingredients in a bread machine on dough cycle.
When finished, split dough in half. Roll each half out onto a surface until
about 1/4 inch thick. (Lightly spraying the surface before-hand with oil to
prevent sticking.)
Roll into long (about 18 inches) baguettes and score the top 2 or 3 times with
a sharp knife about 1/3 thickness of baguette.
Mix last 2 ingredients and paint onto top of loaves.
Proof for 20 minutes or so.
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Bake on greased cookie sheet or baking stone for 25 minutes or until golden
brown.
This goes very well with many dishes but is also the left overs are an awesome
addition in tuna melt sandwiches!
